New York is one of the most fun cities to walk around in. Within ten minutes you can cross over the whole world. When you go to China town no one speaks English and if you are lost you would not be able to know if you are in Hong Kong or New York. Some of the restaurants are so native that if you aren’t fluent in Mandarin or Cantonese they won’t serve you. A ten minute walk away you are in Little Italy where all the movies were made and where there is Italian ice cream and pasta. Right next door is the Jewish section where the men all wear little black hats called Yamicahs and have long beards and peahs, (curls in front of the side burns) I had a cousin a year younger than I who lived on Staten Island and was still in High School. She would come visit me on Saturday and we would walk all over Manhattan trying all the different foods and seeing all the sites. On day we walked along 5th avenue during the Columbus Day Parade. I bumped into a man. I looked up to say excuse me and instead gave him a big kiss and a hug. It was Franco Saracini. He was an Italian Airline employee who lived in the town of Siena where I had studied guitar two years before. I came in one night very late on a train from Spain. His brother took me home and gave me a place to sleep as all the hotels were sold out. They were from an old aristocratic family in Siena. I had no contact with them since that time. Likewise all the hotels were full In New York and the airlines had put Franco in the Waldorf Astoria, one of the most Elegant hotels in New York. Consequently by coincidence we had bumped into each other on Fifth Avenue.
